Hey, blog reading friends! This has been such a crazy few weeks, and I actually have a couple of (hopefully) undivided attention-type hours to write a blog post and fill you all in on what I've been up to. I know, what else have you been doing but twiddling your cute little thumbs in anticipation of this literary contribution?
When I came back from Valen's birthday celebration I had a few things to finish up in Kellyanne and Brandon's house, and that occupied the beginning part of the first week in September. A couple of the latest projects in their house needed Polyurethane, and some finishing touches. They look super cute and I can't wait to see them upstairs!
The following weekend I was a bridesmaid in two weddings. Yes, that's right. I was a bridesmaid in two weddings. <-- see how I said it twice? Because of the two? Well, I didn't die. In fact, I had such an amazing weekend. I freakin' LOVE love so much and I was able to watch four people I cherish declare their's (love, that is) in front of friends and family. The festivities started on Thursday with a rehearsal dinner for my cousin and his beautiful fiance. They were married on Friday evening in Briarcliff Manor, NY. It was a gorgeous wedding, and my whole family was there to celebrate. I was so blessed to be a part of it, and BONUS: my kid and nephew, along with two other adorable near-toddlers, got to get gussied up and share in the fun. Valen screamed hysterically during the entire ceremony. I love you two, and I'm so happy for you!! Hope you're having an amazing time in the Europes.
Saturday morning, at about the rear canal of dawn, I was up and driving to Geneva, NY to bridesmaid hard for my friend Angie. I was super nervous about not falling asleep behind the wheel and/or ruining her wedding because my feet wouldn't work but none of that happened. I woke up on Saturday feeling super energized, had the most scenic and liberating drive (I haven't driven a car the entire time I've been in Pennsylvania) and then had a blast at the wedding. The venue was gorgeous and everyone was so happy to be celebrating these two incredible people. Also, I got to have beers and show everyone my sweet dance moves without falling into the lake or getting arrested. YAY!
I drove back from my weekend-of-weddings on Sunday and then got right to work on my next project in Dingmans Ferry, PA. which I've been chugging away at since. Usually I'm a lone wolf when it comes to design, labor, shopping, etc. but this particular project is a full main-floor renovation. Rustic Customs Construction is the contractor who's doing the bulk of the work in the home and I've been hired to re-do the kitchen cabinets and slab some paint on some doors. I'm having so much fun collaborating, being a part of a renovation project, and having some adult conversation. They tell me it's healthy. I can't wait to show you all what the final product looks like, but for now enjoy these before/progress pictures! And be sure to check out Rustic Customs Constructionon Facebook.
Originally, I was supposed to return home after the weekend-of-weddings; I ended up extending my trip to work on this kitchen and I am so thankful I did. Hurricane Irma is still affecting so many people in Florida. While the Tampa area where I live was largely unscathed (thank God), 6+ million people are without power, there is mass-flooding throughout the state, and a lot of people in the deep southern part of the state don't have homes to return to, or can't because the roads still haven't been cleared. I was able to put my baby to bed Sunday night with peace-of-mind here in Pennsylvania, but not every Floridian parent had that luxury. This is a great article from USA Today detailing how you can help victims of Hurricanes' Irma and Harvey if you're hopelessly wanting to help. I'm so thankful everyone I love is okay, and I'll be heading back when this project is over to begin a new adventure with Bunny and Doug in a new home!
Thank you all for checking in with me this week, and faithfully supporting my insane endeavors! I am so excited for what the coming months have to bring and can't believe how blessed I am to be this busy, and this in love with what I do. Life is beautiful! Ice cream! Pumpkin-spiced EVERYTHING! Selena Gomez! Tra la-la. xoxo Alyssa
